Eco-Conscious
There is a strong relationship between the restaurant and the environment. The vegetables we use to make side dishes and salads grow from the ground. The same is true for the grains and grapes used to make beer and wine. Animals walk the land and eat its plants, while fish swim in our oceans, lakes and rivers. And everything must breathe the air that surrounds us.

The quality of our soil, water and air can affect the quality of the product we work so tirelessly to prepare at Garrett's. We believe that the same effort we put into our food and drink should be put into protecting our natural resources.

We've taken the following measures to do our part:

  • All glass bottles, including beer and wine, are recycled.
  •
  • Cardboard, office paper and paper menus are recycled.
  •

Tip for eating out healthy in Rockford, Illinois:
Make the right entree selection. Go for broiled and grilled rather than fried. Not only will you save calories and fat grams, you'll also avoid trans fats which are so prevalent in fried foods. Instead, consider asking for a doubles order of vegetables with your entree. Very few Americans are getting the 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended for optimal health. Plus, by avoiding the starch, you'll be reducing your caloric and carbohydrate load. Also, stick to tomato based sauces rather than cream based and you'll enjoy a considerable calorie savings. Lastly, ask for the sauce to be served in a separate dish on the side so you can control the amount you eat.

Cooking at home has become less of a choice and more of a chore. With the large amount of ready meals available, the option of spending time in the kitchen becomes less and less appealing. People are spending more of their time and money in the world of fast foods and rockford restaurants. Although some believe this to be a bad thing it has fuelled a new market in available meals that are only a phone call away. As long as the health and hygiene departments vet these establishments and our choices are varied, of good quality and healthy their use can be a good alternative to cooking our own meals.

Rockford is home to many great fast food, carry out, delivery and fine dining restaurants. Whether you are into Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Greek, Steak, Seafood or whatever, Rockford, Illinois is your source for a great dining experience.

As a staple of life our need to eat has developed from a basic form of simply feeding our bodies with the fuel it requires, to a complicated art of presentation and taste combined with our intrinsic need to experiment with everything we see, touch, smell and of course taste.

The ever-increasing divergence of foods that is now available to us at our local stores and eating-places only help to confuse and tantalise us into new culinary experiments and delights.

Traditional rockford restaurants will always offer us that pleasant alternative to eating at home, ordering take out from our local rockford fast food dispenser or visiting their drive through or small busy caf'tyle rockford restaurants. Not forgetting those special occasions or romantic rendezvous, these still command the need for that quiet stylish quality rockford restaurant where we know that the food wine and service will always be excellent and the experience wonderful and charming.

Tip for eating out healthy in Rockford, Illinois:
Think about what you're drinking with your meal. By not ordering an alcoholic beverage, you've saved yourself a considerable number of calories. Try sipping iced tea sweetened with a noncaloric sweetener, a diet soft drink, or water with lemon. You'll be glad you did when you consider the calorie savings.
