Description

The Olympic Tavern was founded in 1945 by Anthony Rotello.  Originally serving local businessmen and factory workers a burger and a beer, The Olympic Tavern quickly grew into a full service restaurant and bar.

Through several renovations, Anthony and his son Thomas grew the business from a 12-stool bar into the 250+ seat restaurant that exists today.

The Olympic Tavern's formula for success is simple; listen to the customer and deliver more than they expect.  There's everything from burgers to lobster tails on the menu, a great wine list and Rockford's best craft beer menu.

Thanks for visiting - we hope to see you soon.

Service Rockford Always good food, good service. Love the atmosphere, too. The cheezy chicken is my favorite, and my husband always has a delicious burger.

Service Rockford Just ate lunch here with my son and a friend. The waitress was fantastic and very personal. I ordered the No Bread Fred, which was delicious and healthy!

Whether your tastes are simple, sophisticated or somewhere in between, Rockford restaurants will satisfy your appetite. Whether you are looking for a placement to take the family, a romantic dinner or a quick pickup after work Rockford restaurants will fulfill your needs. You'll leave with a smile and a full tummy! Click on the options to the left, just a small sample of the area's offerings.

People who do not have the ability, time or will to cook at home now only have to pick up the phone book or click on the Internet in order to find their local rockford restaurant or rockford fast food retailer that will be more than happy to deliver the freshly prepared hot food ready to eat straight to their door with minimum fuss.

Although the rockford fast food retailers compete with each other fiercely, using their special offers and cheaper and healthier alternatives to entice us to their premises, the main stay of traditional rockford restaurants still hold an important part in our lives.

Tip for eating out healthy in Rockford, Illinois:
Make the right entree selection. Go for broiled and grilled rather than fried. Not only will you save calories and fat grams, you'll also avoid trans fats which are so prevalent in fried foods. Instead, consider asking for a doubles order of vegetables with your entree. Very few Americans are getting the 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended for optimal health. Plus, by avoiding the starch, you'll be reducing your caloric and carbohydrate load. Also, stick to tomato based sauces rather than cream based and you'll enjoy a considerable calorie savings. Lastly, ask for the sauce to be served in a separate dish on the side so you can control the amount you eat.

Avoid ordering an appetizer. It's a little known fact that some appetizers have more calories and fat than the main course. Plus, many appetizers are fried and served with heavy sauces which will add to your intake of saturated fat as well as trans fats and calories. It's not a healthy way to start your meal.

Tip for eating out healthy in Rockford, Illinois:
Learn to control your portions. Many rockford restaurants are serving larger quantities of food than in the past. If this is the case, put aside a portion of your entree at the beginning of the meal to take home with you. If you remove it from your plate before you start eating, you'll be less tempted to overindulge.
